Sulong OCBC 2019

It was a full year of Activities for a very young organization, but all things are possible with the Magic of the 'Bayanihan' Spirit. The phenomenal 'Group Hug' of the club creates a glaring stir of fun, friendship and mission for the Filipino-American community, their families, friends. It all started from great friendship that lead to a Mission Statement. It took several brain storming meeting on what's the purpose is, on how to do it, and means to do it. But from all of the criteria to make all things possible, everyone has one thing in common, to live up to the name of the Bayanihan Spirit. All ideas are Bright, Inspiring and Goal-centered (BIG), but without a strong commitment all ideas will be just ideas. As the popular saying goes 'Action speaks louder than words'. Everyone promised their (BIG) commitment and all eyes forward and never looked back. On March 23, 2019, Olongapo City Bayanihan Club of San Diego County was officially launched as a Club with the Spiritual guidance of the River of Life Church Reverend Louie Ignacio (currently the OCBC-Spiritual Fellowship Director). The Founding members came in with the support of their families and friends to witness the club's introduction to the community. The Calendar planning for the Year 2019 (Sulong OCBC 2019) started to snow balled. On May 27, 2019, the first 'Grand Family Picnic' at the Admiral Baker's Field Family Park was an invitation to Fellow Olongapenean's, their Families and Friends to start up an excitement for the growing Filipino-American community, and announcing that a new non-profit, non-partisan, non-political organization will be there for any community service related help. It was well-attended by more than 400 people from different States, and as far as the Philippines, that happily gathered to celebrate an indeed 'Grand Family Picnic Day'. Everyone was happy to see Young and Old friends for a long time and renewed connections. After the Month of May celebration, OCBC hosted a San Diego-SBMA Trade Mission (June 13-15, 2019) to seek economic opportunities to better the lives of Fellow Filipino-Americans on both ends with the presence of the Hon. Wilma T. Eisma, SBMA Chairperson and Administrator and delegates. The month of 'Ber' Spirit welcomes with a "Meet and Greet" (September 09, 2019) from the Sister City Mayor's of National City California, USA (Hon. Alejandra Sotelo-Solis and Rolen 'Lenj' Paulino, Jr. of Olongapo City, Philippines to reaffirm and strengthen economic and social ties of both ends. The last quarter of 2019, ROL and OCBC gathered last October 20, 2019 to prepare goods and supplies intended for the Center of Youth and Women of Olongapo City (Social Welfare Project of the Hon. Cynthia C. Paulino-SBMA Director). On November 12, 2019, the club celebrated a very special day to honor the military who are active and veterans to thank them for their dedicated service and sacrifices for the county. To close the year with a grand celebration of success and community service commitment to the Filipino-American community, the Winter Gala Night-Charity Ball on December 28, 2019 is set to be well attended by Community Leaders, Families, Friends and people with the same agenda to help.
